I was looking over population data released today by the Census Bureau and I was struck by how robust the Bay Area is growing relative to areas that once grew much faster than here.

Especially interesting considering the cost of living.

Most of the top growth counties are still in Socal. Riverside is 3.6% for example.

Riverside is one thing with its far flung towns and lower cost of living, but its immediately followed by Santa Clara, San Mateo, Alameda and Contra Costa which are basically the core of the Bay Area and extremely expensive as well.

Very fascinating.

If I had to venture a guess, it would be jobs. Massive growth in tech industry. Just check out this forum, everyday it seems there is a new thread about someone relocating here to take an engineering job.

Second would be immigration.
