Hi, I just got a job in tracy and will be relocating from Monterey. Does anyone know of a nice area to live that isnt more than an hour away from Tracy? Maybe Hayward or Dublin? Thanks!

Hayward will be a reverse commute and so will Dublin. I would pick Dublin, though.

What do you mean reverse commute? Thank you for your input.

Reverse commute means commuting against the normal (rush hour) traffic patterns. Traffic patterns during the morning rush hour here in the Bay Area will commute from Tracy into the Bay Area. If you live in Hayward or Dublin, you will be going the opposite direction, which is against traffic.

Why not Tracy itself?? It's a nice enough town and rent would be cheaper than Hayward or Dublin. If I had a choice between Hayward and Tracy, I would go with Tracy!

I agree with this. If you're not opposed to living in the central valley, Tracy itself is an ok choice. There's really no point in commuting far and spending more on gas and more on a place to live. Tracy is much cheaper to live in than Bay Area locations and you wouldn't have to deal with driving over the Altamont Pass every day.

If you must drive away from Tracy, try Livermore.

@Mary4444...Try Mountain House, its just 5 miles outside of Tracy, and is a really safe Family Orientated Community. Its relatively an up, and coming Community that has been around for 10 years now. Btw, it has lots of new Model Homes, & new homes being built all the time. You should stop by Mtn. House, & check the Community out, you'll like it!

Thanks for all your ideas! On my days off I plan to spend time in SanFran and thought taking the Bart would be convenient. I just don't know the area at all and not sure where to get the Bart, etc. Thank you again!
