My husband and I are about to move out of the city and into the burbs, we are looking into Redwood City and found a great apartment on Hudson and Roosevelt street. It is directly across the street from the YMCA. Our only worry is the safety in the neighborhood. We could tell that the area was not kept up quite as nicely and many other parts of Redwood City and was very densely populated. While the inside of the place we looked at was great, I want to make sure I feel safe going for a walk, etc. We are used to living in SF so we are not afraid of a car break in here and there but if there are large amounts of muggings and robberies that would deter us from taking this unit. We are thinking of having a baby soon which is why we are being a little extra sure about safety. Any advise would be great!!!!

It's pretty safe, definitely better than a lot SF neighborhoods. There are a lot of low end rental units around there so it looks run down, but its really not that bad.

It's a little bit white trash, if I'm honest. You'll see lifted pickups and motorcycles. But it's perfectly safe.
