I work in SOMA and my typically Friday usually turns into excessive drinking, followed by excessive regret.

This is starting to get old and the weather is pretty amazing tomorrow, so I humbly ask for some suggestions on how to best enjoy tomorrow?

I've got a car and get off work around 4pm. Any suggestions are welcome. Baker beach? Drive to Marine? Santa Cruz?

Eat at Off the Grid in Fort Mason and then go pub to pub on Union Street and Cheshnut Street in Marina District.

Drive down on Hwy 1 to the Pillar Point Harbor just north of Half Moon Bay, have dinner on the patio overlooking the fishing harbor at the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company or one of the other restaurants nearby, walk on the pier and view the fishing fleet and watch the sun set.

Point Reyes "area"...it's a gorgeous drive and handy to get to...cooler than the immediate Bay Area and there are several awesome places to stop if you get "thirsty" or even hungry before heading back via GG Bridge. You can choose beach or trail, picnic/hike,mellow or more athletic depending on you... Muir Beach or Stinson...keep driving or park.... or can just drive around along the coast (Marin Headlands) ...your choice depending on the mood!

There's so much to do, and so many beautiful places to go around the Bay Area, it's hard to know where to start! Half Moon Bay was a good start. You could spend the night there, then proceed to Santa Cruz and spend your Saturday there. Hiking in the redwoods, checking out the beach scene. Whatever.

Good for you for wanting to break your old habits and set up new, healthy ones, OP!

Dump the car or risk sitting in traffic for 2+ hours no matter which way you go.

He's got a point, OP. You'd have to get off work at 3:00, and head south and over the mountain toward Half Moon Bay, and even then, you'd probably encounter some traffic. Don't even THINK about heading for the GG Bridge to go north on a late Fri. afternoon! NIGHTMARE!

Why not walk someplace and find some new friends? Solves the longer term scenario because there is always another Friday. Get some new friends this week and have a far better summer than hanging with the immature crowd. Take a bike ride, visit the Exporatorium just for kicks, Bart to Jack London Square, beach at Pacifica, the Corps of Engineers Bay Area water shed exhibit in Sausalito. Use the bus, don't have to drive anywhere but can meet people.

Are you really looking forward to next Friday?
