We get it -- you like guns.

America has to balance freedom and safety. If you want this stuff to stop and you want the government to stop it, be prepared to forgo your rights. Because rights will be stomped on in order to stomp out the bad people.

Because you have to stomp on EVERYONE'S rights in order to do it.

I sure as heck don't want that to happen.

Our rights have already been stomped on, but the government is failing to keep us safe. They get out with 5 years probation, wooooh scary! How about if you get caught with an illegal gun, mandatory 20 years in prison or life in prison if you use a gun in a robbery or burglary. It's not about guns, it's about not being afraid of defending yourself because you will end up in jail or being sued by your attacker.

If everyone arms themselves that would be the wild west days.

Please, back to the topic - not the place for a gun ownership discussion. That would be P & OC ------->

Is there any stats on homicide rate by zip code in San Francisco ? I want to see how low the homicide rate is in my zip code. I have always felt very safe in the zip code where I live, even when walking the streets at night.

Hard to say, many of the homicides aren't something that more cops can stop - for example, out of the 4 last weekend, 2 were family members killed by a crazy guy, 1 was a domestic violence, and 1 was a homeless man.

Aside from the transient (and even then), those are just the sorts of things that happen, no amount of cops will fix that.

Another one in EPA last night. A Latino teen was ambushed - car to car warfare.

FYI:

Police keep tabs on Menlo Park funeral for 16-year-old homicide victim - San Jose Mercury News

"Police investigators initially said that pictures Quiñones had posted on social media sites of himself flashing Norteño signs suggested he was a member of the violent street gang."

Posting pix of oneself flashing gang signs on social media sites will get one into trouble. What's scary is whether there occurs instances of kids photoshopping such behavior unto unsuspecting people.
