^^^ by the time you get to southern california from the bay area, you're practically there. no sense in hoping on a bus at that point. tehachapi to vegas is only ~4 hrs or so. bay area to la would be more of a hassle than to finish the drive yourself.

not to mention, what happens on the other end - you take the megabus or imaginary bullet train into vegas. then what? how are you getting around town? vegas is BIG, too big to walk everywhere. not to mention, we're starting to get hot. walking in vegas during the summer isn't advisable. taking a taxi everywhere will depleat your vacation $ fund, same with renting a car.

You end up paying 3-5 times what it would cost in gas depending on the airline, your departure location and the type of vehicle you drive.

Example I've taken my 2007 Avalanche LTZ to Vegas from Stockton. 500 miles on one tank of gas that cost me 100 bucks. Good luck finding a ticket that cheap. I did the same trip in a 2009 V-6 Chevy Impala 150 bucks for the 1000 mile round trip with four people last year.

If your just going to be around the strip then just fly in.. You can go up and down the strip on the bus or just stay in your hotel and do what you want to do. No need to drive..
