Hi all,

I live in Sacramento and am going to the Oakland Coliseum for the A's - Giants game tomorrow. I received an advisory that since the game is sold out, I might want to use public transportation. This will be my first time on BART. The Richmond station seems to be the closest for me, but I've heard it's not in the best area. Would El Cerrito be better? I just have no clue on this at all!

Thanks,

Debby

Okay, so you're driving in and will park and take BART to the stadium. Got it.

I think Richmond gets a bad rap. I've gone there with a bike and rode it from the station out to Rosie the Riveter Memorial Park. At the end of the day, I got on the bus back to BART and went home alive and in one piece with my bike.

Both El Cerrito stations are fine and they're by big shopping centers, so having that traffic nearby might make you feel more comfortable.

The stations really aren't that far apart, so just go where you think you'll be safest.

I live a block away from Richmond station. It gets more negative attention than actual incidents. having said that, El Cerrito Del Norte would be easier for you as it's right off the freeway. Richmond station would require driving through a city a bit that you're not familiar with.

I agree El Cerrito Del Norte would be better as its right off the fwy. Not sure what the Amtrak schedule is like but if it works you could try taking the train all the way from Sacramento directly to the Coliseum as there is a stop there.

Thanks all. I also posted my question on my Facebook page, and the general consensus is El Cerrito del Norte. I appreciate your help!
