Does anyone have any recommendations for pet friendly, relatively inexpensive (under $250 a night), CLEAN and quaint, ocean view hotels, inns, or cabins within about 100 miles north or south of SF? I'm not familiar with California at all - just looking to be in a beautiful place for a bit.

Thanks!
The ocean is permanently covered with thick, cold ugly fog and there is nothing to see. Don't even bother to go to the beaches in or around SF.... They are depressing!

Thanks for all of your suggestions. I found a place that allows dogs in (or near) Big Sur called Ragged Point Inn. It has mixed reviews but I think that the rooms that allow dogs don't have an ocean view. Really appreciate your help!

There are beautiful beaches around SF. Marin is full of beautiful beaches. And there's no fog in winter. "Nothing to see"! LOL! That's funny!

My favorite time to head to the coast for hiking/adventure is this time of year as the weather can be consistently pleasant.

Granted, you gotta go between storms. But, some years, there can be weeks between storms.

Fall is also a good time when we get that hotspell. Spring is a mixed bag, especially if the fog starts coming early, and winds can sometimes be stronger than one might like.
I'm with you, I find myself going to the beach more often in the winter than the summer. I can recall several days I've sat on Ocean or Baker Beach from December to February wearing nothing but a t-shirt and soaking up the sun.
