Hi,
So you don't like MA? May I ask where do you live and what is that you don't like about it? I lived there for 5 years and now when I don't, I thought forever about my move back to MA but then decided it will be easier to find work in CA Bay Area in IT so moving there for the first time in few months! Hope it's a good decision and your post makes me feel that it's a good thing I have decided on Bay Area. Good luck to you for your move back!

I understand wanting to move back. I'm a native NYer, moved to SF when I was 37, lived there until I was 44, and then moved back to NY and have been back in NY 7 years, and I miss the Bay Area every day. NY is a great place, but it doesn't make me happy, being in the Bay Area makes me happy. Every time I come to SF on vacation (every 2 years), that one week in SF makes me so happy. I lived in Contra Costa, in Walnut Creek, and it was the happiest 7 years of my life. I'm hoping to move back there someday.

I don't know why anybody would say this, like some other poster says above, getting a job in tech in the Bay Area is like winning the lottery, let alone a well-paid job in tech.

He said it because it's true. If you can't find a tech job in the Bay Area, then you'll not get one anywhere else. If it weren't true then rents would drop (they're actually going up) and people wouldn't be moving over for the latest "Gold Rush". Perhaps you're completely unaware (don't know how you could be), but the Bay Area/Silicon Valley region is the epicenter of the tech industry.

Because those are the facts, if the applicant is qualified.

I have about 1-2 recruiters calling me weekly (three weeks ago, I had 5 recruiters call in one week) for open positions.

If you are skilled and educated, you will find a job in the Bay Area.

Actually, I could not find a tech job(software development) in the bay area and had to choose between offers somewhere else. Interesting, that some are still keeping up this whole Bay Area is 'the center of tech' myth. It once was, like 20 years ago.

My husband is interviewing engineers/lead developers and security architects currently. He was actually had three job offers for the first time ever about 5 months ago.

That being said, we live in the Bay Area. I can imagine it being much harder to get a job from another state/country. The job outlook is vastly improved than it was a couple of years ago.

Plenty of info about it that would back up my own opinions as well.

This is nonsense. You pretend that there aren't thousands of other companies that hire for technical staff all over the country. Apparently Austin, Houston, Boston, Raleigh, Atlanta, Tampa, Seattle, DC, and NYC doesn't exist.
