I was reading the other thread and some of you are actually saying you've never heard anybody say "Frisco". It shows either a drastic age difference, or it shows that some of you have never been around people in the Fillmore or HP. I know 2nd generation San Franciscans who say "Frisco". There was a 1992 Rap song called, "Frisco" By San Quinn and 10 other San Francisco rappers. If you have never heard people from SF say "Frisco" then you must never leave your house. It is being said anywhere you have people under the age of 50.

For some areas it may be good advice to not say it, if a lot of people don't use it and will find you to be silly or whatever.

Personally I intend to call San Francisco "Frisco" in person to residents, just out of amusement to any language elitists who try to correct me. I think there's a difference between somebody saying "I don't want to hear it" and saying "just a tip, don't call it that, because some people will think you're a moron".

I think it's a generation thing. My older relatives don't call it Frisco & hate it if I do, but all my friends (mid 20's) call it Frisco.

Interesting. I'm 22 and I never knew anyone to call it Frisco.

Be assured if one runs around the City calling it "Frisco", the residents will assume you are a simpleton or an uninformed tourist (maybe both).

It is not an age thing - that's NONSENSE!

That's in the other thread and only because it was off topic to the subject of that thread.

I just think "Frisco" sounds cheesy. Give the great city the respect it deserves by using it's proper name.

Default Frisco? Frisco. Another Thread????

If you guys reach a consensus on this frisco debate is it going to make that much of a radical difference in your life experience?

Now I will be a hypocrite. I can't help but echo the sentiments someone posted on the other thread...simply travel around san francisco and say "frisco" in passing conversation with folks and see what kinds of reactions you'll get. Then you'll see for yourself.

I'm out.
