Yes. West Contra Costa County is very diverse and upper class Black families are very visible up that way. And actually into Solano County as well.

But as far as I can tell, according to the OP, it only counts if it about 2/3 black.

Wealth gap is widest in some affluent US cities - SFGate

Pretty interesting how the OP touts cities like DC and Atlanta being the antithesis of SF, yet look at the economic disparity that's just as pervasive. Whoops!

It isn't the only state in the union where it is a problem.

I've never seen such a clear cut division between the haves and have nots like the Bay Area though. Not to say other places don't have this issue. But it seems to me, people out on the West Coast (because this isn't exclusive to the Bay) seem to be more content in prentending it doesnt exist here. When it's just as bad or even worse compared to other cities

Please re-read what I wrote. I said JUST AS PERVASIVE. Economic disparity is obviously not a good thing, but the OP was insinuating that ATL and DC are black middle class utopia- hardly true. That same economic disparity in those locales comes with a heaping helping of racism and self segregation. In other words: don't throw stones.

How would some of you describe Black business ownership in the Bay Area? Is it where you think it should be? A lack of Black businesses does play a role in Black poverty and unemployment. Basically in many areas of the country Black unemployment could be reduced if there were more Black businesses to hire people. What's the level of Black business in the Bay?

I disagree.More blacks going into STEM fields would alleviate unemployment and increase wealth. The bay area is a center for STEM careers and generally wealthy compared to the rest of the country

If you think SF is better for black people than DC, NY, and Atlanta then you really are biased. I'm a black male who established his career on the East Coast. I couldnt imagine how hard it would be to establish a career out here. Now that I've reach a kre senior role, I'm out here honing my chops. But make no mistakes, the Bay Area is not a great place for the black upper middle class.
