Does anyone know why this Thai restaurant closed? It was one of the best places in the Rockridge area.

Has the space been replaced by something yet?

It closed a while ago, though I don't know why. There's a new Thai place there now that opened last fall, but we haven't tried it yet. (Sukho Thai; not sure if it's connected to the old place or not.)

When did Plairn close, the Thai place on University in Berkeley, that routinely had lines of customers stretching out the door? That place did a booming business.

Are they closed?? Very recently, if so! (You know they moved a few years ago, right? If not, look for them at their new(ish) location at University and MLK--if that's the one that closed, though, that must have happened in the past month or two...)

I think Sabuy Sabuy (5231 College Ave.) put them out of business. I never thought Pearl of Siam was that good.

Plearn was terrible also. American Thai food tends to be fairly redundant (with certain exceptions, like Neecha) and was overrepresented by the number of restaurants it had in the Bay Area, so it was only a matter of time before the less innovative started closing.

Oh, thanks. No, I didn't know they'd moved. That Shattuck and University location was very convenient, lots of traffic. I'll look for them on MLK.
