LOL when 52% of Phoenix adults have a bachelor degree or higher and the day Phoenix attracts more venture capital than any single city in the world, such as is the case with San Francisco, then you may speak and expect to be taken seriously.

Otherwise, go criticize a city you actually beat like Ciudad Juarez or Port-Au-Prince.

18Montclair: Were not talking about Phoenix now, that conversation is over.
get with the program, were talking about San Francisco now.
Why do you continuously have to keep proving your cities self-worth.
if your city was so Great, it would speak for itself.
If your constantly having to prove yourself, then you have issues with "Self-Worth"
That's really funny! Cleveland had this same mentality alway's trying to prove to the world how important it was/is.
Seems San Franciscans have this same mentality.
you can say whatever you like, I love my city!
and would choose to live here over San Francisco.
How you feel about my city is of no importance to me, if you don't like it, then Don't visit or move here.
I on the other hand never said, That I hated San Francisco. It's an interesting town.
Maybe a bit on the weird unusual side, but still a interesting place to visit.
maybe you should travel more.
it sounds like you never leave your city.
There are numerous interesting cities in our nation, you need to check them out and don't just judge them from your layover at the airport. actually get into them and explore.
That's what I did in San Francisco and I didn't come there just to see the clean sparkly tourist attractions, I got into the grittier side of the city.

18Montclair: Then again, if you really live in San Francisco, your probably paying 75% or more for your rent, So you probably can't afford to travel any further than the BART Lines run

100% of one's income on rent in SF is preferable to living rent free in Phoenix. You'd have to pay me.

Ewww.

Wow! It's Just so "Sophisticated" and look at these "Beautiful" "Trendy" people
What's sad, is you will see more of this type in the city.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXLejflEtcA

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82_I5trbFco

And here's a drive down Valencia Street San Francisco's Hipster neighborhood.
Kinda looks like any other street in any American town, what's so sophisticated and special about it?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3OqqO2z9jnc
Hmmm! Where are all these special high class people you keep talking about. the city looks like any other city.

Here's there "Gay Neighborhood" Not much different than other Gay villages in other major cities.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2AoGUHbXAY

Traffic and cityscapes like any other american city. Is this really San Francisco?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOzUjXTzgcY

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jG6Ey_TG-0

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mmVB0JLx7c

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOT9GntAkN4

So you can see, there are nice areas of San Francisco and there are also so Crappy areas.
it's no different than a lot of american cities.
The people who live there are no better than anyone else in America and as you can see, there not much if not at all more Beautiful or intellectual.
I can pretty much put together a set of videos like this for any major american city.
Except for Detroit
hehehehe
Proving once again for the umpteenth time, that every city is just as beautiful and just as important.

18Montclair: So you don't want to live in Phoenix?
Then Don't live there.
1.5 million people feel differently than you do and we love it here.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6ownk-NJ0M

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wK_BlCWOg24

And you can go hiking right in the city and not feel like your in the city.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDP_VfUzBAY

Also right in the city, we have this huge desert park, you can drive up by the TV towers and get a great view of the city.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5QqF5iLi50
And we even get these Huge Dust Storms, but even that won't make me Dislike my City or even think twice about moving away.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMNZimmNnMY

So I would even pay more to live here, because I know that Im in a really cool and modern vibrant city.
And Here is my Neighborhood I frequent a lot of these businesses.
this is in walking distance of my affordable apartment

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWxubUQf2s4

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CXJ9WZhOLSA
We have a Clean and Modern Light Rail, that is expanding further out across the city.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0DacKy8T2Q

And Look our busses are even Clean and modern looking.
You don't see them covered in Graffiti.
This is a modern Clean City, that has a form of government that actually works.
Were not going "Bankrupt" and were not over-run with Homeless.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYPpKUUNBXc
But like any other city, We are not perfect, we have homeless too.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CO8JvbRLEPI
So you can see, Phoenix is a Major City and not just a dusty old cowtown.
get out and travel more.

And Now would be a good time to close this thread.
all of our opinions have been aired and it's really kind of gotten way off from the original topic anyway's.
before I sign off from this thread, Id like to share 3 books that I bought in san Francisco. They have some pretty cool bookstores "City Lights" being one that has a bit of history.
but here are the three I bought, you might find them good reading.
Season of the Witch: Enchantment, Terror, and Deliverance in the City of Love: David Talbot: 9781439108246: Amazon.com: Books

Reclaiming San Francisco: History, Politics, Culture (A City Lights Anthology): James Brook, Chris Carlsson, Nancy J. Peters: 9780872863354: Amazon.com: Books

Cool Gray City of Love: 49 Views of San Francisco: Gary Kamiya: 9781608199600: Amazon.com: Books

Everyone have a good weekend whats left of it
and that even goes for you 18Montclair
I will go back to just reading the threads for now and responding only when I feel a response is needed.
But Seriously this thread has become old and redundant.

Well, they sure don't make up the importance and influence of a city.
They contribute hugely to my pleasure, which is the basis for my choice. So yeah, subjectively, they do
