That feels a little low, but you might be able to find a 2 bedroom in Grand Lake/Adams Point. These areas are a little further from BART, roughly 1 mile, but there is a bus that goes to SF as well and it is right on route. The bus takes roughly 30 minutes. I believe it even has wifi for some runs.

You might have some luck near the Coliseum BART station.

Is it possible? Yes. Will it be in a good area? Maybe. Will it be within walking distance of a BART station? Probably not.

Your chances of getting a "yes" for the last two questions will improve if your price point increases to $1,800/month. Chance will improve significantly if your price point increases to $2,000/month or more.

SF bay area apts/housing for rent - craigslist

Act now. Oakland rents are skyrocketing at a pace that far exceeds inflation.

Yes, with luck. A year ago, it was no problem. Rents have gone up significantly, though, so you'll have to search, respond to a listing immediately, and convince the landlord you're a reliable long-term renter. Is this for yourself, or do you have a family? Is Oakland a must? A week or two ago I saw listings for a 2-br. apt. in north Berkeley, not far from El Cerrito BART. You'll have better chances of getting the price you want if you can be a little flexible on location.

Condos and apartments in Oakland near bart seem cheap on craigslist. Sfh would obviously be a lot more expensive. Density is the future, good lifestyle and good for environment.

Maybe towards the ghetto. My 2bdr in Hayward near the bart is $2100 (1700sqft). The places that have a private route to the bart are $2400.

Craigslist finds at least 83 two bedroom apartments in Oakland with "bart" in the description, starting at $1200/month. Click here.

At least half of those are over 2 miles from BART. Some are roommate situations. I don't think I saw any on that search within a mile from BART and close to the OPs budget in a decent area....

This is roughly 1 mile from 19tH BART.

Rents in Fruitvale seem to be in range...

I know people that live off of 35th ave and bike to Fruitvale BART... at least it's all downhill on the way to Fruitvale BART
