Hi - My husband and I are originally from London UK and came to PA 2.5 years ago. We are intending to move to the Penninsula in late June 2008.

A biking question from my husband: Is it true that you can 'filter' in CA? My husband seems to be under the impression that it's the only State in the USA, where you are actually allowed to filter on your bike - I know he will be very happy if he can - especially if there are lots of traffic jams.

Sorry any folk originally from PA, but generally the driving standards here are atrocious!!!! I hope they will be better in CA - for instance are Drivers considerate of Motorbikes/Bicycles or Pedestrians on the road ???

Foster City looks so gorgeous from the internet - good place to live? Ideally in a modern Town House Community with Pool and lots of other children around?? So far it seems to be my fave place....

I'm glad to have discovered this site and would be happy to hear from anyone about the above...

I'm not sure what "filter" means (riding between car lanes ???) but in California, it doesn't matter as nobody on a bicycle observes the rules of the road anyways. They will often dart through an intersection against a red light. Taffic laws be damned !!

Good luck riding a bicycle in San Francisco. Too many hills and streetcar (tram) tracks on some streets.

Yes, Foster City and nearby Redwood Shores are nice areas on the bay with parks near the water.

I rode my bicycle everyday in SF. Down third, to embarcadero, through the park, down the wharf over to Aquatic Park and I would head back doen through Market street to see the freaks.
