Y'all rock! Thanks for the feedback!

Sorry I wasn't more clear at the go- I have no illusions of finding an entire place (apt/house/cardboard box) anywhere near S.F. for anywhere NEAR $800.

I am looking for a shared living situation to decrease the cost and increase the fun!

That said, I've been pouring over craigslist (here (broken link)'s my posting from yesterday) and have found few opportunities that look interesting. Thanks Mr. Bun, or may I call you Hot Dog? Ah, internet humor.

In the day or so I'll narrow down possibilities and will post the areas/neighborhoods I'm looking at so I can get everyone's input.

Thanks again, Happy Tuesday, Xander

You actually can find cheaper studios, in-laws, and even the occasional 1bed room apartment in SF. Check craigslist, and they usually have at least a few listed around $750-800. Once in a while you can even find one as low as $650. And I'm not talking exclusively in the Tenderloin or Hunters Point. Try Ingleside, Lakeview (which while a little cutty, is definitely getting better), the Excelsior, and the outer and inner Sunset.

Maybe Hayes Valley.

Find a flat that is looking to rent a room, if they've been there a while the rent shouldn't be too much. SF has rent control.

Try not to rent from crazy people.

BTW - that's how my husband and four of our good friends met - we were flat-mates.

Right on, my pleasure. Hope you meet up with cool people.

Mr. Bun sounds sorta...sketchy. How about just HDB?
(you down with HDB? yeah, you know me)
has a certain ring to it.

kidding.
