Megadeveloper teams up with Oakland's billion-dollar stadium project

Quote:
unCal, the giant real estate developer with a bulging list of potentially massive projects, is working with the Oakland Raiders on site review work for a new stadium in Coliseum City.

But whether the closely held, Irvine-based company is pursuing an expanded role in the development of Coliseum City — an 800-acre project including housing, retail, hotels, stadiums, parks and office and R&D space — is an open question. The company's work so far is limited to helping the Raiders determine if a 55,000-seat, $1.5 billion stadium, required parking and ancillary development can fit on the site of the current O.co Coliseum and Oracle Arena.

The addition of SunCal as a partner in Coliseum City's development — if it happens — would be a major sign that the potentially transformational project in the gritty East Oakland neighborhood is moving forward after three years of fits and false starts.
Quote:
If New City makes a successful proposal that is approved by the city and county this summer, Coliseum City building permits could be issued as early as next year — if all goes perfectly — and the Raiders could be in a new stadium in time for the 2019 National Football League season.

Black Hole ain't goin' nowhere! Especially delightful if it comes to pass, given the exodus of the Wine and Cheese team from their city.

They should probably update those plans and get rid of that NBA arena as the Warriors are as good as gone pretty much.
