This sucks all around.

http://www.eastbayexpress.com/Cultur...-outside-lands

I won't link to some of the other poorly frames articles on this but here is the TLDR version.

Oakland artist, Fantastic Negrito went from street corner to BART station to NPR to Outside Lands was detained by SFPD because his intern tried to scalp a wristband. His concert got cancelled.

Extra egregious:
Negrito had a shoulder injury and requested to be handcuffed in the front (the on scene medic advised the police of this) but they kept him handcuffed for 3 hours in pain instead of cuffing him in the front. The intern confessed after an hour or so, yet Negrito was still detained for 3 hours. Obviously, there were zillions of people scalping tickets at Outside Lands, why were Negrito and team targeted?

Scalping a crew pass is far different than a concert ticket and could be a security concern since it would give whoever bought it access to areas the public shouldn't be.

Sounds like the promoter was the one who had the cops pursuing the matter with vigor, although the not listening to the medics about the shoulder is over the top.

Sure but it seems like once someone confessed they could have ended the detention. It just seems like this enforcement was far more vigorous and extensive than needed.

Might have taken a while to come to the truth, judging from the 'tude Mr. Fantastic projected in his statements. Referring to it as a "wristband" rather than all "all access backstage pass" clearly was an attempt to make it sounds like a lesser deal than it was. Also, referring to his intern as "broke ass" was clearly an attempt to engender sympathy where none was warranted.
