But Yeah I know what he's getting at. Here's a prime example of what he's saying is going on in San Francisco.

And BTW, if it was me in my car and I was suddenly surrounded by individuals on bikes with items being used as weapons, I would fear for my life and he'd be feeling every horse under the hood of my car in a matter of seconds.
He's obviously an idiot, and (rightly) was arrested for his actions. I hate critical mass, and I'm pretty liberal (and a huge cyclist). They do far more damage than good for bike rights, which is super unfortunate. The sooner people realize that we're all just people (whether we're biking, cycling, or driving), the better we'll be as a society. Too bad our infrastructure sucks and causes so much friction (vs. somewhere like Amsterdam that, rightly, breaks up cars, bikes, and people).

That all being said, SF has been known for these kind of people for a long time. It's part of what makes SF what it is (for better or worse), and complaining about it is a bit futile, imo. For the most part, these types of people are very easy to avoid in real life.

Because some people have to politicize everything or they'd have no reason to live.

Ironic, given that's exactly what Bimmer was accusing people of doing. Maybe if he'd actually read the article, he wouldn't have said anything

My cousin is a big cycling enthusiast who recently moved to the Bay Area from Houston. He attended the Critical Mass in San Francisco the night this happened. He didn't see this happen, but he said this would be his first and last critical mass in San Francisco. He said the cyclists who organize this are complete *******s. He said in Houston, it is much more organized and civil. He said here it felt a bit dangerous and he felt guilty at the end of the night because of the behavior from so many of the participating cyclists. For example, he said one car got stuck in the middle of the intersection, but he didn't purposely try to drive between us, he was just caught in the middle and came to a stop and people were just running circles around him taunting him as if he just committed some crime.

I read the article and I know it's fake - how does that change anything? It's a pretty easy assumption that it was someone who hates techies and/or tech in general, and the ultra liberal types are the ones ragging all over the tech boom, so yeah. You might not be in the group of people that did it. I don't believe he said ALL liberals put the sign up, but it's pretty easy to follow the dots. We're not in a courtroom, so your reasonable doubt means bupkis. Who else is possible? Some old person who got on a ladder and installed that sign?

There are many pieces of evidence that show how close-minded the ultra-libs are that live here and I've lived in the south and know how close-minded the ultra-conservatives are as well. In fact, I used to think I was a liberal when I moved here. I still don't think I'm a republican, but holy crap my eyes have been opened.

The only difference between the ultra wingers is that the liberals are less violent. They're France and ultra conservatives are North Korea or Hitler Germany.

So many NIMBY's here too, it's not at all what I was expecting.

I'm sorry that a fake/satirical sign is so offensive to you and the tech community. It must be awful to be so easily offended.

Jon Stewart has a great saying that he said in a live show for people on the extremes: They are at the extremes of a bell curve and can't see reach other because of all of the people in the middle.

Extremism isn't a good look for anyone.

Who is offended? Nobody posting here. I could give two craps about the sign itself. It's part of a bigger issue though which is worthy of discussion.
