Any advice on petaluma schools? Seems like west petaluma is the nicer place to live but the best schools are on the east side? (Including middle school and high school) I know the schools are not as highly ranked as in Marin which is fine, but are they still going to provide a good education?

It used to be that Petaluma High (west) was more academic than Casa Grande (east). That's not really the case anymore. Both are considered good schools. There is also St. Vincents, a private school, which is also considered very good.

The schools are good on both the West and the East side. I live on the East side and choose a West side school for my son personally. I visited a lot of schools, both East and West and liked the feel to Valley Vista best-- for the community aspect as well as seeing the kinds of kids that come out of that school-- respectful and friendly. It really depends on what kind of school you want for you child. When we get to Junior high age, I will see what my kids want to do and what is best during that time. But both Junior Highs and High Schools are under Petaluma City Schools, so they are similar for the most part.
