Fremont is cooler, and has nice parks, some on lakes, the regional park--on the Bay. The farther away from the Bay you go, the hotter it gets. For entertainment, Fremont is close to Oakland. It's also in the middle of an Asian sub-culture, so--lots of Asian food, a couple of Afghan restaurants, there are Indian festivals, and a farmer's market on weekends. Fremont turns out to be more interesting than it looks on the surface.

It's not any closer than Concord, about the same really.

Concord has an actual real downtown too unlike Fremont. Plus Walnut Creek is close by and better than anything within the same radius as Fremont imo.

It doesn't take 2 hours to commute to SF by bart from Concord.

I was going to say the same thing. I don't think it even takes 2 hours TOTAL round trip to take BART from Concord, but I could be wrong. At any rate, thousands do the same thing in the Bay Area, and other cities like NY, Chicago, etc. It's part of life. Unless you're rich or a DINK couple, most people have to deal with some sort of commute, and the Bay Area is no exception.

Yeah, my daily commute is just under 2 hours a day and I consider myself lucky. And that's driving...

Two hours a day on rail is a piece of cake.

There is a newish apartment complex in Union City within walking distance to BART. Could be worth considering as it is very close to Fremont, but without Fremont prices.
