I will never live or have any desire to have a huge house again! I used to have a 3100 sq ft house up in Sacramento area with a half acre of land---this is with 4 kids also. No way would I ever do it again---too much to furnish (stupidly never took furnishings into consideration when I moved from my little 2 bd in the City to a big house).

I'm happy living in my 2300 sq ft house---don't need any more space to deal with!! It's a lot of work maintaining and cleaning a place daily/weekly (especially with kids) and taking care of landscaping on top of that . I'm probably odd-- especially where I live, but don't believe in hiring other people to do my house work either.

My ideal would be a loft/warehouse... not that it will become a reality.

Don't need much in the way of a home... I do need shop space... even an old barn I could fix up would work.

My brother bought an old ranch that needs a lot of work... been in one family since the 1860's...

One thing I have to say is he and his wife and kids have all trimmed down... simply more active tending to the horses and pigs.

Lots more walking and always something to do... they rarely even look at TV anymore and it is a hot area without A/C... place never had it and they thought for sure they had to have it.

Even my 82 year old Mom still mows and does all her own yard work including tree pruning...

For Mother's day in 2001 I bought her a top of the line professional Honda walk behind mower... she had alway used a push mower... that Honda has been flawless.
