Default No to San Jose

I moved to San Jose almost 2 years ago and HATE it here. I wouldn't move to either place. I don't know much about San Fran, it can be fun but a real hassle to do things and yes costly. San Jose is also very costly and if you are going to pay less which is still a lot be prepared for culture shock. I am from southern CA right between LA and San Diego and am used to other cultures but here in San Jose there is a very dominate hispanic culture which can make you feel like an outsider. For example today is Cinco De Mayo which would ussually be a fun day but here on both of the two main streets I live between people are driving up and down with Mexican flags all weekend long so going to do any errands is out of the question. Any way aside from the feeling like an outsider San Jose doesn't have much to offer, it's very boring, no young people, they are family types. San Fran at least has more to do and a younger crowd. The cost of living is outrageous and the average house cost between 600,000 and 800,000 and thats for one in the East Side which is deamed not very desirable to live which is where I live right now. You will not be able to afford the nicer areas, just for a one bed room in the nicer area it cost close to $1,600. If you are gonna make a big move go somewhere that has more going on or you will get lonely and not want to stay.

San Jose is not that much cheaper than SF. Not nearly enough to compensate for the boredom offered in San Jo. San Diego isn't much cheaper either. I think finding a nice 2-bedroom for $1200 any where near a big city in CA is going to be extremely difficult.

So are you so open minded because you like San Jose? Just because someone doesn't agree with you that does not make them close minded.

There's plenty to dislike about it. Sweeping generalizations and basic ignorance don't sell a point, though.

I lived in a 1-bedroom in the Richmond District for $1,100 a month...So I don't how much you're expecting to get for $1200 and a 2bedroom. Try San Jose it's not that bad!

Yes it is. But if you're ready to live the married life, then it may work out for you.

There are plenty of things to do in San Jose. The Improv downtown always has well-known comedians perform, and the place is always packed with young people. There are so many great restaurants here with great food of all varieties. Once again, they are filled with people. There's art galleries, museums, theatres that have awesome live performances. There are many clubs with a variety of music styles. There are sporting events etc. Things are convenient and easy to get to as well. People that complain about being bored here are just boring people. There is always something fun to do in San Jose.
