How dense do you propose and can the infrastructure handle it... much is quite old.

He wants to tear down all the historic homes and build only 10 story condo buildings

As dense as we can build, wherever we can build it! Anytime someone is going to tear down a building and replace it with a SFH in the city limits of a major city they should be required to build at least a three story condo instead of a SFH! And yeah the infrastructure needs to be improved as well. Smart grid, better transit, etc.

So you're saying all victorians should be torn down and replaced? Historical societies must LOVE you.

No, I wouldn't say that. Eventually non-historic buildings break down to the point that they would be replaced with another SFH. They should be required to replace it with a three story condo.

Whenever there's going to be a new residential development in the city limits it should be required to be a dense development. If you want the cost of housing to go down you have to build units.

Where do you draw the line at "non-historic"? One day those 50s ranch houses will be historic because they represent the Middle Class we used to have.

We still have a middle class and always will. The middle class is the group that makes the median income in a given area. Around here the middle class can buy a condo but not necessarily a SFH. So around here, people who live in SFHs are generally Upper Class.

You can also wish that Manhattan would revert back to rural farm land, but guess what - AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN.

At some point you have to adapt and move on.
