I'm doing my research ahead of time and would like to get opinions of neighborhoods to look for a place to live when I finally make the move in the summer.

People have been suggesting Oakland/Berkeley, so I will definitely look into that. Are there any other neighborhoods around that would be fit the bill?

I also would not mind going with 2 or 3 roommates (have done it before, $1k/month for a room in NYC, Lower East Side), so I think I can do it again, but definitely not stomaching $1k for a room again.

Neighborhood and parking would be most important (as I will be bringing my car) and proximity to the public transit would be ideal since I will probably be working somewhere city proper. If it matters, I'm 21, college graduate, GAM... would like to live somewhere middle classish.

Thanks for the advice in advance! (Counting down the days... or months rather).

Try south of SF, such as Burlingame, San Mateo, Belmont - all middle class suburban neighborhoods and within 30 - 40 mins of SF. Caltrain connects these towns with San Francisco caltrain.com - home
