Heck just kicking out the 3M invaders here right now would solve the "housing crisis" for 100 years.
I totally agree that we would be better off without all the post 65' Third World immigrants but I am also a realist. The problem is that rich Liberal Elites want it both ways to be NIMBYS while supporting massive immigration. The solution is to prevent future waves of massive immigration while increasing the housing supply for Native born citizen. Japan is a good example. Housing prices there are stable because they are simultaneously building more housing while keeping out immigrants.

There's no need to import this many people we don't have the resources for it. BTW, Asian-Americans you outperform white-Americans by wide margins. You have no right to complain about anything.
Most Hispanics in California are Meztizo. The White Hispanic population is miniscule and they are not Mexicans but rather Cubans and Argentinians. They are mostly in Miami not California.

If Asians want to help with the housing crisis they need to lobby to turn their communities such as Daly City and Fremont into mini Hong Kongs rather than ally with White NIMBYS. Cupertino is mostly Asian yet they are still extremely opposed to building new high rises.

We're pretty much aware of your obsession with ethnicity and your VDare oriented views and they should be viewed in that light.

Not sure the current status but this was proposed a few years back in Oakland.

What an ignorant comment.

It is sheer folly and nonsense to put the responsibility of a complex regional problem on one community alone.

You don't know neither the housing situation in Hong Kong, its topography, nor its political and economic dynamics. HK actually has an affordability crisis not unlike that in the Bay Area. Despite all the high rises.

They don't have NIMBYs but the effect is the same - large real estate developers buy up large tracts of empty land, and keep them fallow or undeveloped for years, to control the supply of housing coming up or being developed - in order to maximize profits.

It isn't cultural preference for folks in HK to live in tiny apartments - that's what it is given the shortages of available land (the actual built up urban areas of HK is about 20% of the total land area of the territory). Maybe some immigrants come here for the greater space available for living. You think?

Aren't folks of your ilk always telling immigrants to assimilate and go with the flow? So don't be surprised that some Chinese immigrants settle in places like San Marino, CA (known for its very restrictive code ordinances) and like it that way like the long time residents.

You know what - in a way I actually appreciate folks like phantompilot for being up front with their crude nativism. We know pretty much where they stand.

By contrast, you try to dress it up with pseudo-intellectual language about the environment and other supposedly lofty ideals, quoting tracts from and about people who at first sound credible but are actually cranks.

In Tokyo housing is expensive but prices are gradually stabilizing due to the fact that they are simultaneously limiting immigration while increasing new construction. In some ways Asian societies such as Singapore under Lew Kuan Lee were much better managed than Western Neoliberal Democracies but Asians in the West want to have both Asian ethnocentrism while emulating the bad parts of American cultures. Same is true with other groups such as wealthy Middle Easterners in Socal. Asians can help Americans lead the way in many positive areas such as more efficient land use. Asia is building self contained cities and have some of the most prolific Neon light displays.

Japan has a significantly aging/declining population. There's less competition because people are dying off and young people are having less children
