How important is it to have A/C in the month of August in San Francisco? Looked at a lot of places on airbnb and they do not have A/C. One place in particular is a between San Andreas Lake & the airport.

Thanks!

Almost definitely unnecessary, especially if not in the later parts of the month.

Well that's good news. Staying in LA in August too which from my experience is a must but I guess a lot is different 5 hours north.

Drive an hour or less in certain directions from where you're staying near SF and at least I would really want A/C.

Coastal heat waves are more common in September but even if you happen to be here during one in August it usually cools down plenty at night so you can sleep. I assume you won't be spending much time during the day inside anyways.

It's critical. And used a large number of days.

I'm assuming that by A/C you meant Windows that open.

A/C in SF is about as necessary as in northern Europe. I lived in the city for decades and never once seen it in a private home.

You definitely want AC there although my mom's house doesn't actually have it. Some of the heatwaves were a little brutal in that house w/o AC. If you really like the heat, have a single story home, shade trees, and ceiling fans (or even better a whole house fan) you can probably get by without it but I would not recommend doing so.
