This looks like a Rockridge house. The middle of Chabot Road has a few like that, in the blocks just below the school.

I recently got a house in Vallejo, but I personally wouldn't buy in Deep East Oakland. A little grime can make a neighborhood interesting and give it character, but everything east of 40th ave, south of 580 is just too dangerous for my tastes.

So far I have been smart or lucky... first home was two blocks below east 14th on 90th... then 65th and then Havenscourt...

Just about everyone told me it was a big mistake and simply too risky...

Happy to say I proved the naysayers wrong...

If I would have listened to some I would be stuck renting in San Leandro or Alameda as they are and not have been building equity.

Oakland is what I could afford and I was not giving up on my dream to be a homeowner...

The truth is I learned a lot and met many wonderful people of all races... something changes when you buy into a neighborhood as you are now a part of it...

I went on a tour of this area a few weeks ago! The history was so interesting.

The Storybook neighborhoods tend to go all out for Christmas with decorations... I really wanted to live on Picardy so bad but it wasn't int he cards...

Ended up moving between Coolidge and 35th after Minna Street... the home on Minna was darling as my Grandmother would say... when I sold it the newspaper put it on the cover of the Sunday Real Estate Section... imagine that... cover photo for a home a block off Brookdale

I think this is the house??? Redfin has it valued almost 100k more than the purchase price a little over a year ago. Not bad appreciation. I think Redfin is pretty accurate.

^^^ Five years back the area was a sea of foreclosures and you would have been hard pressed to spend over 200k... plenty in the 100-200 range with some even under a 100k

Several of the neighborhoods are somewhat near Mills College...

Right. I told people to buy if they had the money back then. I would of picked up a few condos in my hood sub 100k that now sell for 400k+. Back to this area, you aren't going to see the same thing again. That was a once in a life time opportunity.
