West Oakland and North Oakland are becoming more and more like San Francisco, with only the well off and the very poor (in subsidized housing). East Oakland still has a mix of working class, middle class and upper middle class neighborhoods. And all of Oakland has a problem with property crime--there isn't a magic border at Park Street or 580. The areas with serious violent crime problems are much more concentrated.
Not a lot of walkable areas east of the lake. Fruitvale, Laurel, and the Dimond are about it. Transit is a bit slow. Biking infrastructure sucks and biking is pretty dangerous.

Deep East Oakland has lots of violent crime. Dangerous = violent crime.

There are plenty of nice parts of east Oakland but you need to drive everywhere.

Most of Oakland is pretty "neighborhood-y" which is a plus. People know their neighbors and most of the city is fairly mixed. All good.

But personally I don't like driving everywhere so most of Oakland is off limits for me.

It's a weird location. Not really West, not really North. But you go just a bit North from there, it gets good pretty quick. I used to use a plating house near there. Know it well.

That spot in only a few clicks from MLK and the 50s. Very close to very pricey up and coming real estate.

There are many areas in Texas that make St Francis Woods or Seacliff look like dumps for a fraction of the price, on top of having more green space, less filth, less homeless etc. The Bay Area besides a few pockets is very rundown, old but not in a charmkng way and so dirty, yet people pay through the nose. I'd rather live in a nice part of Austin, Dallas or Houston than somewhere in East Bay. Ignorance is bliss though. Keep telling yourself that the rest of the country sucks from your old outdated 1 bedroom that costs you the same price of your dream home or condo elsewhere in a cleaner and nicer city lol

I would usually sympathize with someone who has experienced displacement or has been priced out, as you have, but seemingly you are happy with your situation. But I don't quite understand how you of all people could call someone ignorant. Its bizzare, but not surprising. Trump should be happy to know he has one extra vote in the Everglades.
