Precisely! Its nice to see some people are able to sift through all the BS and exaggerations that pollute this forum.

Stop misquoting me! I did not say the Sunset district gets 5 hr of sun in summer...I said the visibility is more than half a block and its dry about 4-5 hrs a day. Other than that its covered in REALLY dense fog and it drizzles. The fog does not clear in this area for weeks at a time and when it does its only for few hours. So basically there is no sunny day in the sunset district for 3 months or so in summer. I don't know if that happens in So. Cal but if it does then the weather is probably as lousy as here.

So the weather is considerably worse that what that pathological liar "jman" would want you to believe. Just check the fog forecast and see the western half in the map..It never clears and the prediction is the same everyday.

Besides, the bottom line is. Mr whiny er, I mean andywhateverhisnameis, has NOT LIVED in the SF/The Sunset for a whole year yet.

AND he's from Texas.....he claims to live in the inner Sunset, yet ******* about weather that is more fitting for out on La Playa St. or something

That information tells people MORE about that poster than any whining he can do around here. Which of course is constant, uninformed, predictable, useless and tiresome.

Confidential to andy......Dude, just because you are obviously a literalist who didn't do much research of SF and the Sunset before moving here, and probably just figured: oh look it says Sunset, that must mean it's sunshiny all day and Gidget there in SF wear shorts and flip flops strolling over to surf at the beach while listening to the Beach Boys.... doesn't mean EVERYONE ELSE is a dim as you....

And your constant whining and bashing of the weather!?!?! of all things is retarded.

You don't have to live here for a whole year to see how sucky the weather is.. It doesn't matter if its La Playa st or the 9th ave! They are all west of twin peaks and its the same.

Ha! No it's not. Shows how little you know pal!

You know, if you keep digging and digging yourself a hole around here, you may just get that tunnel back to Texas afterall.

The Hermosa Beach area-where I spend a lot of time-hasn't seen the sun in several days-not even for a few minutes. Mind you, the overwhelming majority of L.A. has been sunny, just as the overwhelming majority of the SF bay area has been (I assume). But Hermosa, like the Sunset in SF, is one of those areas prone to lots of fog/marine layer/overcast. The implication is obvious: If you don't like extended periods of overcast, don't live in either the Sunset or HB.

I'm still not clear on which area I mention above gets more overcast due to fog in spring/summer. The assumption from everybody is that Sunset does. But, most of the people that say that and are familiar with SF, have really only spent time in parts of L.A. not near Hermosa Beach. So, after years of talking to others and doing research, I'm still not sure. But, if I move up there I will report back!

I live in the Outer Sunset (47th Ave). I think it is walkable. Bought my house in 1992--best investment ever! Great place to raise kids in SF. My kids are now 9 and 13 and it's the only home they've lived in. Yes it's foggy but I'm not moving.

I live in Sunset (24th & Noreiga). This past week was pretty much sunny each day. There's no way the comment of "no sunny day in sunset district for 3 months or so in the summer." is valid.

Having said that, it does get more fog than the eastern part of SF.

If we did not have to deal with a split (South Bay - City) commute at the time we'd probably have bought in the Sunset instead of Central San Mateo County.

We still go back to our Inner Sunset digs from time to time to grab one of our favorite restos or walk the dog in the "teens" between Ortega and The Park.
