How feasible is it to do the commute from Livermore to Modesto everyday? has anyone here done this before? My fiance will have to be close to Hayward, so living in Modesto is not really a feasible option. Thank you guys for your input!

IT's a 45-50 minute drive of reverse commute traffic. Definitely doable.

Now that other commute for your fiance is a terrible one. Livermore to Hayward is basically a parking lot on Interstate 580 / Interstate 880 in both AM/PM peak directions.

I did the Danville - Modesto commute for 2 years. Took around 150 minutes per day. Make sure to download a lot of podcasts.

The peak hours in the morning is from 6AM to 9AM.

The peak hours for the afternoon is 3PM to 8PM. Afternoon peak hours are worse since I-580 backs up for longer.

Depending on where your fiance works, taking BART from Dublin/Pleasanton station might be a better choice.

I live in Livermore and commute to Hayward I start work @ 6 am most days and it takes me 30 minutes door to door in the morning. On the way home at around 3:30 it takes me maybe 45 minutes to get home. If traffic is really bad on 580 there are alternate routes that can be a lifesaver some days. I live near the airport in Livermore and about 3 minutes from the freeway.

That's the reverse commute (going opposite of traffic) so you should be fine. About 50-60 min drive each way.

I would worry more about the commute to Hayward. I would even consider moving closer to Hayward, i.e. Dublin, to make the Hayward commute much easier while having a practically negligible effect on the reverse commute to Modesto.
