I'm a 32 year old single male moving to the Bay Area soon. I'll be working in San Francisco near a BART line and would prefer taking transit into the city, no more than an hour. I'll earn about 98k per year. Looking to stay around 2 to 2.2k per month and prefer not to have roommates.

I would stay in the city. You can find places in Richmond and Sunset for around $2K. It won't be big but it'll be your own. And commute is much shorter too. Silicon Valley is boooooring for most single d00ds.

LOL. Stop.

Really?

Please post a listing for 2k in the sunset that isn't an inlaw setup with 12 other people in a 2 bedroom house.

I'm impressed, Bebop! ^^^ I only found studios in the Inner Richmond, for the OP's price, but I see the Sunset has some 1-br. options, along w/the Outer Richmond.

OP, you can afford the East Bay: Berkeley, Oakland, El Cerrito, Albany. The last two will get you more space for your buck. Since rents do rise (unless you get a rent-controlled unit in Berk/Oak), you should aim for locations that give you a little leeway, affordability-wise.
