So true. For software companies, follow the VC/Angel Investors.Silicon Valley is mecca. Dormant now, but the economy is in the tank. Wait till 2010 when things return. Some of the best and brightest people in the entire world start SW companies in Silicon Valley.
Also,AMD and Intel make money off semiconductors. Most of the software they develop, they develop and give away to support chip sales.

Yes, we're here already - been here for nine months now. I found a job even while back East and drove cross-country (great experience!) and my wife found a job as a nurse right away. And no, I haven't been laid off ;-). In fact it's been a pretty busy nine months considering the economy. The funny thing, though, is that my employer is actually based in NYC and "relocated" me here...
