How does this answer my question about how the country was 20 years ago or 50 years ago? Sorry, I still don't know what you're referring to. Could you clarify? What factor/s was/were different in the later 90's that we're comparing to now?

Now the valley is all about drugs, fast life, and being rock stars. Very few of any of the new companies it has created do much for the world, except take money from dumb investors, such as those overseas.

Uber makes all the sense in the world. You have man-child VC's, who hire prostitutes for their friends, and cocaine parties. These are the people starting, and funding companies up there now. There isn't a Dave and Bill - those guys would leave the area and head to Texas..

The valley elite are so stupid because this is always what happens when people get too rich. This is why no one need fear machines, or self driving cars - people are just like they've always been. Dumb. The world is hood winked into thinking the valley is smart but that will soon be gone like a fad. 20 years from now people will laugh about self driving cars. And in 20 years no one will want to start any company in SF. Many people are choosing much better places already.

Oh it's not just Uber. It's anywhere you have the SF quick-flip venture capital firms backing companies. They are no different than vegas bookies or wall street con artists. Uber knows no one cares what it does. And no one does even now.

Rest assured these guys don't think they've done a thing wrong. Some other valley zombie company will pick them right up.

America built companies long before this Frankenstein called the valley existed. We need to go back to that and leave the valley to decline. All these cities now want to be like SJ - but they should not follow that model as it produces the crap companies we see today.

Some cultures have not made such strides in gender equality as in the West. It came out a few days ago that Uber fired Amit Singhal (formerly at Google where he'd been accused of sexual harassment). Let's not pretend as though only white males are capable of being sexist pigs.

So, who's that guy who harassed her?
Supposedly sending company chat messages asking to sleep with him on her first day...whoa.
Why no screenshots and no name?
Pictures or it didn't happen, sorry.
Is it because he can produce something flirty on his side that he received? Why no details?
Multiple attempts to push her useless "book" in the same blog post (!). Something fishy.... Not to diminish tech sexism problem gravity, but some unscrupulous people do try to milk it (Pao)

Yup, lots of east coast hacks wound up in SF after they got fired on Wallstreet during the collapse.

It's actually very sad how the bay has become east coast and is no longer Californian, in the cultural sense.

As an LA native, I never used Uber. It just seems sleazy and unregulated.
I will pay more to have a quality taxi cab driver, vs some slob from Hayward or Concord in a Kia high off xanax.

So, was it Amit who sent messages to Susan??

Oh boy, that Uber sounds like a jungle full of predators. Who could think we'd find this in Silicon Valley, which promotes disrespect of the United States laws, US President, the zoning regulations and livelihood of numerous US citizens? In other words, in the very lib-tard nest with their phony corporate "protests", "human rights" concerns and amicus briefs targeting the very fabric of society.
(to SV: don't cry when the roof eventually falls on you, honey it surely will )

The right to eat is a human right too, ya know. It comes first.
