Hey guys,
wondering if you could tell me anything about salaries for Architectural Designers in the north bay area? We are looking around petaluma, cotati, rohnert park for living and wondering if anyone knows anything about architecture/job market in that area and salaries/experiences of people in the industry.. I have looked on some websites but you never know how truthful that is it seems.

would it be awful to travel into san fran from petaluma for work if I had to?

Thanks!
Mehg

Yes, the commute would be awful, unless you could drive to a Golden Gate Transit stop, and catch the bus to go over the bridge. Even so, it's along commute.

Have you searched for architects' firms in the area, to see what their salaries are?

All I can say, is - - it's not enough (Bay Area standards)

I suggest you stay away from the big name firms as they will just get rid of you like tracing paper and disposable tech pens if the project is on hold. They hire and fire like maniacs.

salaries are bad in arch in general. can't believe they won't be high enough to not struggle. i have a couple of friends doing it. The one whp is not struggling is 45 years old and owns his firm.
