You posted a video and said 'Vallejo in all it's glory'...insinuating that teenage girls fighting is all one finds in Vallejo.

And now you wonder why people are calling you out?

Really?

So is this Orange County 'In all it's Glory'??

You're correct about that, it will take a long time to undo the damage of years of neglect from City Officials in Vallejo. The City Council has become far more proactive but for decades they turned a blind eye to substandard rental properties held by absentee landlords and considered code enforcement a waste of money. After Mare Island closed, the City decided to try to sustain itself with redevelopment money and subsidized low rent apartment complexes. When rents started going up in the Northern part of Solano County there would have been a great opportunity for revitalization just by the influx of young working families who were being priced out of places like Vacaville, but instead the property management companies who control most of the rentals set the rent at the Section 8 allowance rather than the true market value which would have been several hundred dollars less. As a result Vallejo had so many applications for transfers of section 8 vouchers from other counties that the public became outraged and the City had to put a stop to suspend the transfers.

I'm not saying anything negative about Section 8 vouchers or the people who receive them, but you don't revitalize a city by turning all housing in an area into low income voucher based housing. If and when market rate rent exceeds the section 8 voucher allowance you will see things improve, until then gentrification will be patchy and will occur mostly in areas of desirable single family homes.

This video might be relevant in discussing a county far to the south of Vallejo but is otherwise irrelevant and as such, it's just a form of ad hominem (attacking a poster for posting a video about the very city, not county, being discussed).

Haha no it's saying what's good for the goose is good for the gander. LOL.

You have the right to present a video of fighting teenage girls as the norm in Vallejo but dont forget, your own neck of the woods is very well known for nefarious activities of it's own.The OC is well known as a hotbed for Racism/ KKK/Neo Nazis/Aryans and full of tacky, moneyed trailer trash, many looking like they belong to prison gangs. Lots of folks ib tge Westside wont even set foot down there.

But we dont really need to bring up all that do we?

More ad hominem about my county (and by extension, me) as though my county matters to the conversation at hand. Mentioning the KKK and other such neo-nazis is merely a means to call someone a racist and shut down conversation. The events depicted in video appear to have been filmed in Vallejo, and fairly recently, and as such, they are relevant to the topic at hand.

Haha not at all.

By your logic, the video you posted is an attack on the OP because you present it as Vallejo 'in all it's glory'. Teenage girls fighting in public is Vallejo in all it'a glory?

Okay, then Orange County in 'all it's glory' is a hotbed of trashy skinheads that happen to have money.

The fact that you appear to be personally offended is your problem, but it's not a personal attack according to the TOS because I am simply doing what you did. Post a vid and state my opinion.

No because I made no comment about you personally but that OC vid it us quite pertinent to this thread because it reminds us that we shouldnt throw stones while sitting in glass houses.

The OP seems to like his new hometown and wanted to share that with us and your response is a very rude video meant to what? Overrule the OPs personal experience? Overrule his post? Simple trolling? Idk.

And you are perfectly within your rights to post such a vid with the intent to insult an entire city-good for u!

But just remember, people can remind you that you have issues in your own back yard too.

LOL.

You would be right! It is only 4th. Higher than salinas and oakland. This is one of those things where "both sides are right."

Vallejo is an up and coming town with nice buildings, good weather, easy access to the ferry and still affordable housing.

It is still affordable because it has a well earned reputation as a gangster hotbed still deeply affected by violent behavior.

It is considered safer than a whopping 6% of american cities... and less safe than 94%. To be fair the above article lists the safest neighborhoods in vallejo.

Oakland has the highest crime rate according to that site, higher than Vallejo. The "rank" is something else.
