Hey y'all, my family is relocating to the Bay Area from Texas and are using the PODS system. Does anybody have experience using this type of service to move in to an apartment? It seems like the placement of the POD in an apartment parking lot while moving might be a tall order due to the lack of space. We might be relegated to renting a house otherwise which is fine also, but a little more difficult due to the relative availability of rentals vs apartments. Thanks!

You need to visit beforehand to best gauge the physical pathway from where you think you'll have your POD delivered as well as glad-handing your new landlord to make sure they can accommodate you depending on where you're having that POD set down. Remember, once that truck drops the POD off, you're not going to be able to move it yourself.

You could try and do everything via Google Earth but you could save yourself a few surprises by checking it out beforehand.

If you have to drop the POD off on a public street, you're going to need to plan ahead and have someone you know parking in the exact spot you need it delivered to and ready to vacate it when the truck shows up. Check the local ordinances regarding how long you can leave the POD there.

I would just talk to the manager at the apartments that you are looking at. I know when we moved here they had a couple vender parking spots that they let us use while moving. We didn't do the POD thing but I saw other people who used this option.
