Hi,

I live in Berkeley. I've been to San Francisco, Napa Valley, and near by cities like Palo Alto, San Jose...

I would like to go to near by places during the holiday.

Any recommendations?

"Nearby places" to Berkeley? For the holiday? IDK, I was going to suggest some places in Marin, but it's short notice to make any reservations, and maybe that's not what you had in mind, anyway.

Benicia? Cute downtown. Nice breezes off the Carquinez Straight. Public pool. Nice, small-town atmosphere.

Please define for us, then, "near Berkeley". Is Marin too far?

Tilden Park? Lake Temescal? Are those too near, haha?

well, I don't know what your budget is, but you could go to Pt Reyes, in Marin, and maybe find a place to stay around Pt. Reyes Station, or Bolinas, or maybe on Tomales Bay--Inverness, or someplace. There's a state park and camping on Tomales Bay. I don't know how crowded any camping places would be, nor whether there would be any hotel space available anywhere, on short notice. Plans on a weekend like this are usually best made well in advance. https://www.nps.gov/pore/index.htm

In case you didn't know, the San Andreas Fault runs down the middle of Tomales Bay, causing Point Reyes to slowly tear away from the North American continent. There's a trail through a state park in Marin where you can see a fence that was pulled apart by the 1906 earthquake action, and subsequent tectonic movement; part of the fence is several feet away from the other part.

Are you aware that a huge heat wave is expected to hit the area for the weekend? There are warnings about excessive heat, even at the beach. Though the beach would be a great place to spend the daytime in such weather. Take plenty of bottled water with you.

I know the Bay Area quite well.

If you wanna see the real vibes you'll only find them in Southern California, Vegas baby!!

If we only can move the Bay Area it shall be moved to the East Coast!
