This person was asking specifically about the 94014 zip (which the center and Westlake and other mentioned areas are not). Actually very safe, check out the crime stats, even though 94014 is partially in a 'crime-beat' zone (I live in that specific zone), the crime rate (for all of the categories last I checked) is lower than SF proper, in general. We bought our (1st) home here. I don't think it is a quick-flip type investment, but maybe over the next few years.

Other than driving there and sitting in your car for awhile, is there a way to see the flight path for specific neighborhoods?

Same question for fog? Any detailed information for specific neighborhoods?

I drove around SSF yesterday & most neighborhoods you can hear the planes. However, the amount of noise you hear really varies.

Aside from that, Daly City is a pretty nice town, and has the benefits of BART and the movie complex (in addition to other activities & shopping) right there. If you want something a little more quaint and safe, you might look into the town of Brisbane - very cute!

Yes, you should drive there and listen to the plane traffic. It exists in the hills south of Westlake and west of 280. I know there's an especially severe path (due to altitude of the hills) close to Eastmoor/Westmoor Avenue - the kind where planes fly over at 3AM and shake the house structure. But really it all depends on fog and weather in the Bay Area too - some days are worse than others.
