Here is another artifact of the housing crisis:
https://slate.com/business/2017/11/e...ew-school.html

Working class families have nowhere to live in their communities, and homelessness in schools is rampant. Where are the working class families supposed to go?

Well the worst thing we could do is approve more housing! More supply = higher prices, Less supply = lower prices! *sarcasm* but sadly most people in the Bay area believe this

Clearly an error. There are not 2250 homeless children in the entire city. Nor is there any school district in the country where half the students are homeless.

That data is straight from the superintendent:

Quote:
The housing crisis has shown acute symptoms in East Palo Alto schools. Ravenswood City School District Superintendent Gloria Hernandez-Goff said the homeless student population in the district has swelled from 25 percent at the start of last school year to 58 percent today. The district has stepped up efforts to feed children at school and distribute groceries to families in need.
East Palo Alto, residents spar over RV parking

It is really rough in that pocket of the peninsula - displacement causing pressure in every direction.

Obviously its some wacky metric they came up with...my guess is that it is based on a survey asking if students faced "housing insecurity", or asking if they moved within the last year, or asking if they stayed in temporary housing in the last year , or something of that nature. Lots of people who aren't homeless can answer "Yes" to those kinds of questions.

They aren't actually homeless. Look, just do the math. For there to be 2250 homeless students, that would imply a total homeless population at least triple that, just in the form of the associated family members.

And if there were 5000-7500 homeless people in the city of East Palo Alto, which has less than two square miles of developed residential area and only 30,000 people total, you'd notice it. As in you wouldn't be able to walk down the street without tripping over a homeless person. I drive down University Ave fairly frequently, and they aren't even on that, the main thoroughfare.

Maybe EPA misses the "good ole days" of being the Murder Capital of the nation, and is now trying to make a comeback on the national stage. This time for homelessness, apparently.

I call BS on this stat, and the entire story. This article is more than likely propaganda from housing activists in the YIMBY organization. They have been on a tear lately, trying to impose "stack-and-pack" development and sprawl on communities where the residents emphatically do not want any more development or increased density.

More housing and sprawl and increased density is clearly not a solution. Nobody wants that.

Then dont cry about skyrocketing prices, people are so stupid (not saying you). I cant believe im so fat, well then stop eating an entire cake every day, but I’m also fat from all the big macs I eat... well not eating an entire cake once a day will help slow down your weight gain.

Well that's the thing. This is all caused by reckless immigration policies (such as not enforcing federal immigration laws).

But they won't address the elephant in the room for fear of being called bad names by angry liberals or smacked with a bike lock by "antifa".

Sorry, no, illegal immigration has nothing to do with Bay Area housing prices.

Sorry but no one is forcing these families to live here. There are plenty of areas of the country where working class wages affords a much more comfortable life. Where rents and home prices are with in reach of most working people.
