Out of curiosity...Why would the residents of San Francisco and it's City Leaders allow all of this to reach this level ???? Especially when you know San Francisco is a Beautiful and World Renowned City, and also one of the most visited places in the Country

The general problem of homelessness is beyond the scope of a "San Francisco" topic! It needs to be in another category altogether.
I never said homelessness wasn’t concentrated (for the most part) in certain areas (or at least attempted) - but I also said it’s ridiculous to quibble over ‘segregating’ in terms of the homeless from what you refer to as ‘normal people’ in your post - when SF is a much smaller city geographically than many - and further up the list on density, so it does affect the entire city, like it or not. I see it every day. And SF is not alone.

The residents obviously never "allowed" this to happen, it happened on its own, in a few parts of it. You cannot build a wall around the City and keep certain people out, and make the homeless pay for it

It’s splitting hairs - or actually, worse - an attempt to ‘segregate’ the problem which is nonsense. It affects everyone who lives and works here - and so does the search for ‘solutions’ (as evidenced by the passage of Prop C last year).

That is an over-reaching generalization for sure. Homelessness doesn't affect "everyone" in SF, not by a long shot. For me, hardly at all. And I don't think I am so unusual for a typical City resident either. Unless one is living right next to the homeless areas, or works downtown and is exposed to the harrassment daily, it is truly a world apart, a non-issue.

Yes, the few times each year I have to go downtown for some reason, it is a nuisance all right, and I deliberately avoid the streets and areas with the worst of it. But on my street, I cannot remember seeing a single homeless in years. If I go to some of the commercial areas of Sunset, I see a few here and there, but it doesn't really register as any concern. The most homeless-infested area I usually goto would be Haight, but that street has always been filled with riff-raff, so no shock either.

I think we need more real SF residents to chime in here and express the reality of the true (non)-homeless issue in most residential parts of the City, not this media "hysteria" by "experts from afar".

The rest of the city, where most local people live and play, is a beautiful, pleasant, serene place of great natural beauty and excellent weather.

Just go out and see for yourself, stop reading and believing these incendiary and headline-grabbing "fake news" reporting!
Then whose poop, smeared all over the sidewalk, did I step over in the Fillmore the other day? And I'm sure those people who were passed out near J-town were just trying to get some sun, right?

I live and work in SF - and you’ve been living in a cave with emotional blinders on if you feel homelessness doesn’t affect all of SF (as well as other cities across the country). It’s a beautiful place to live and enjoy - but some of us are not blind to the social ills which occur in every city.

Look, I am not a heartless person, but neither am I socialist or commie. I believe in a meritocracy, and if one doesn't carry their share of the weight what can you realistically expect? I'm sure you have heard of the ubiquitous "bell curve", and that it has "infinite tails". Humankind is locked into this curve, just as any other natural-law governed system is. The lowest 3-sigmas are going to be in tough shape in any kind of world you devise. It is impossible for everyone to have a decent standard of living in a zero-sum economy.

Except - we aren’t talking about a ‘decent standard of living’ (or even defining what a ‘decent’ standard of living is, especially in SF). We are talking about the chronically homeless - in which a vast majority are mentally ill and/or drug addicted.
