Yep and this is what many restaurants are going to resort to because of this.

San Francisco restaurants can't afford waiters. So they're putting diners to work.

On the upside, tipping is no longer mandatory.

Exactly. The ones who are penalized most (aside from restaurants, of course) are those being paid just a little over min wage (poor saps probably worked their way up to it instead of voting it in). They won't get raises anytime soon (due to obvious reasons) and their buying power is suddenly dramatically reduced since everything is significantly more expensive than it otherwise would be. And for those getting the bump in pay due to the new MW, the buying power is being reduced at a far greater rate than the pay increase can support. Some can argue that they are actually worse off due to the forced inflation.

But hey, at least it feels good to people like the OP. Screw the consequences.

I honestly don't see what good it will o because it is still not enough to live on and I thought that was the point. Now everything will just became more expensive and will consume your added earnings.

The only real solution is to create decent jobs that pay well for people with little to no formal education.

Translation: we need more manufacturing and energy sector jobs, etc.

San Francisco is so expensive that $15 per hour is worse than $10 per hour in most cities.
