Living in the state of California expensive? Or does it depend on what part of California? I would love to move to northern part of California, close to the San Francisco area or the Bay area.

OK, so, you're zeroing in on the MOST expensive part of CA, why, exactly?

And btw, very popular places to live, these days come with a LOT of traffic!

The expense is subject to what one can afford. No?

The San Francisco area IS the Bay Area. But yeah, that is the single most expensive part of the state. The southern coast (Ventura to San Diego) is second most expensive.

If you are willing to live in the interior of the state, it is much less expensive, but you lose either the mild weather or the population centers with amenities, or both.

You can't use the search function on this forum to get your answer? There's been dozens of threads on this subject. Why waste our time with another?

If you get away from the coastal urban areas-Sonoma County and south, it is not that expensive.

Hey, if you want expensive, look to London, Paris and HongKong. They make the Bay Area and LA look like a bargain!

California and affordable don't go,in the same sentence, especially the Bay Area.

Plenty of CA is affordable, just not the Bay Area. ( for many people)

As far as OP goes, how much money do you have?
