Hi all,

I'm the master tenant and my roomate (I'm in the middle of evictin her) wants to hire a cleaning service. (she has not pay for this month rent) We have a cleaning service that comes once a mont but I rather they come twice next month before showing the house to new roomates (In SF they have 60 days heads up, before eviction)

She has said that she will hire someone else if our regular people does not come tomorrow. Can I block her attemt of bringing unknown people without my consent?

Thanks.

Why does she want to hire a cleaning service? Do you mean--so she won't have to clean up after herself, in her own space? Why can't you get your regular people to come this week? More info needed, OP.

I don't know what the rights of a master tenant are. Is she on the lease, or are you the only one on the lease?

Read the laws regarding returning security deposit. If you withhold her security deposit after denying her the right to an inspection, etc., she is entitled to her full deposit back. If you are planning on giving her her full deposit back, then don't worry about it.

But, she's probably trying to set you up to say you didn't do what you're supposed to do, so she can get her full deposit back.

Thanks for your responses.

The issue is not the security deposit. She wants to use the new cleaning service to clean the whole place and make me pay for part of it. My real problem is that I am being force to pay for something even if I refuse. The first idea that I had (and probably not the best one) is not to let the new cleaning service in.

My more particular question is how to avoid my roommate to charge me without me approving it?
