And yet there's Champagne and Caviar being served at the SalesForce Tower just blocks away. What a stark contrast of the "haves" and the "have nots" in one of the "richest" cities in the world.

Michael T. Snyder is a far-right Christian evangelist crank and conspiracy theorist who has started numerous blogs as a testament to his raging insane belief that the world is about to end. He started with The Economic Collapse Blog in 2007, with constant articles stating how the world is going to hell every single day since the meltdown started in 2007. It seems as though Snyder blames the government for every ill in the world, because without it everything would be great.

Like most doom-sayers, it doesn't seem to faze Snyder one bit that every one of his past predictions of economic collapse were dead wrong. This horrendous track record would cause most people to reevaluate their beliefs in the effort to one day be right. Yet, he simply refuses to even address or acknowledge that he has been wrong thousands of times, especially if you count each numbered item of his massive lists. He is hopelessly, cartoonishly insane, seeming to have explosive diarrhea of the mind that no amount of logic can slow or stop.

Not to anyone's surprise, Snyder is a major supporter of U.S. President Donald Trump and launched an unsuccessful campaign to win a seat in the House of Representatives representing Idaho's 1st congressional district in 2018, wanting to be his "best friend in Congress" (he received a puny 10,288 votes in the primary). Since endorsing and voting for Trump, Snyder's articles have become increasingly focused on promoting a conservative Christian agenda. In the wake of the Charlottesville attacks, however, Snyder has strongly condemned racism that fueled the attack and denounced white supremacism.[1] Snyder has supported virtually all of Trump's policies, including his most dangerous and cruel, and as you would expect, has either ignored or outright denied absolutely all evidence of Trump's multitude of impeachable criminal offences uncovered by the Robert Mueller investigation, including evidence that is irrefutable.

Hyperbolic BS. Ive lived in Jakarta, Bangalore and Mexico City and SF is nothing those places when it comes to slums. What a bizarre statement.

There's really no comparison... San Francisco does not have slums, just a lot of homeless people on the streets. In these third world countries you will have vast neighborhoods which are little more than glorified homeless encampments, sometimes containing hundreds of thousands of people. In other words, poverty is the norm in such locations rather than the exception as in San Francisco.

I wish I could rep you, but have to spread them around apparently. The right inflates the problems of blue voting cities with ties to the Democratic party. SF and LA with homelessness, Chicago with crime, etc. Always an agenda.

Perhaps discuss technology, globalization, income inequality or homelessness in our country rather than create sensationalistic (and meaningless) thread titles regarding SF. The US is the 10th richest country in the world (despite its size) - and the ‘haves’ and ‘have nots’ go far beyond SF; you need to break free from your tunnel vision (though we appreciate the attention).

We could have a really meaningful discussion on the issue of homelessness and displacement but under these circumstances it's not possible.

Ummm. That blog wasn’t a “prediction”. It was a speculation about how many delegates any of the various Republican candidates might pull at their nomination convention under some various “if/then” scenarios. And, further, Synder didn’t predict Trump would even win the Republican nomination, let alone the presidency.
