I took a long detour today on my way north from the South Bay. I went east from 101 to Los Banos on 152, then north on I-5, and west on I-580.

- The 152-156 interchange is a disaster and must be fixed. I understand that's actually in the works.
- 152's two lanes in each direction are much less scary than 580's four.
- Neither one is anywhere near as steep or harrowing as Highways 17, 84, or 92 on the west side.
- 152 is still a bad, bad, bad, bad commute. You'd have to be out of your mind to willingly commute on it.
- 580 isn't as terrible as people say it is.
