OP, it is a question that probably only you can answer. What type of lifestyle do you like to live? What are are expectations & future plans? There are a lot of jobs in the Bay Area that pay way less then $110K. I know somebody in SF who is currently earning around $46K -$47K a year at a job he likes & his job has really good benefits. He has lived in a 400ft studio for the last 10 years in a convenient area a few blocks from USF. He has no car and he is single. He seems to have found low cost things to do and hobbies to pursue in SF......and he somehow manages to put money in saving regularly. It's working for him living in SF. But, everybody is not like him

I wouldn't relocate to the bay area unless I made at least 175k base.

So you live and work there long enough to base you pension on your high three there then retire and move away. I did but I stayed 8 years

I would, as long as I could pick my location and didn't have much of a commute, or could work from home.

I wouldn't, no. Should you? Only if you are young, getting a foot in the door and don't mind living with several roommates in a small space. Keep an exit plan if you hate it.

Personally, I could do fine in SF on 110k salary a year. Just doing a bit of looking online today, I see rentals in the $2,800 to $3,200 range. I have often seen it recommended as a guide to how to pay for rent rent.....30% or 1/3 of your salary. Taking the lower of the two (30%) =$3,300 based on a $110K salary. If you move into a rent controlled unit, as a new tenant, you will be paying current market rate .......but, future rent hikes are subject to rent control. (I think 1.8% is amount rent can be raised this year in a rent controlled unit, last year was 2.6%) Do plan to own a car or would you be ok using public transit to get to your job? You could always rent a car to go out of town. Also, SF is crawling with UBER & Lyft drivers. I have had it take as little as 2 min for one to show up and majority of the time, no more then 5 min wait. If a car is a must for you, then it will be a bit more of a challenge to find a rental with indoor parking.....but, they can be had. Finding street parking in SF can be tough......some neighborhoods it can be a real nightmare. OP, just because I would be fine moving to SF for a job paying paying $110k.....does not mean it would work for you. It is only a question you can answer. Here is one example of an apt at the low end of the price range I quoted above:
