I am looking at possibly purchasing a home on Santa Fe Ave in Martinez. Does anybody know if this is a safe area?

I've never heard of Martinez being unsafe, but I'd check some of the crime reporting websites.

Martinez is safe but many parts are ugly, lots of drugs and you'll regularly see meth addicts walking the streets downtown.

The crime rate is suburban average I'd guess.

Martinez and Benicia (across the water) are both refinery towns. Where you are in relation to the refineries and the direction the wind blows might be more important. There are plenty of neighborhoods in those cities not directly impacted by the refineries but that should be part of your home search (along with the crime rates).

That area is not bad, but there are better parts, depending on your price range. The farther you go west on Pacheco Blvd, you get nicer areas in general. We call that area The Flats. My daughter lives on Palm Ave and likes it. I live on Pine St., Close to Brown St.

In general, the area is cleaning up/gentrified, but you do have some homeless folks downtown as most cities do, but a lot less that Concord and usually nice people actually. The key is your neighbors. Make sure they're normal and you should be okay.

Howe Ave has some homeless living in RVs, which close to Santa Fe. Martinez is a quiet place and less crime than Pleasant Hill and Concord.

I just watched a short video of some footage of Santa Fe from a man who lives there and grew up there. He shared that unless you have a well paying govt job or own propertyand are well off, it is very hard to live there since it is dominated by the wealthy. Just passing it on for what its worth.
