It's a wait and see situation here in the Bay Area. I'm starting to get the feeling that house prices won't fall as much as people think it might because there is a lot of money in the Bay Area and I have a feeling a lot of people will be waiting on the sideline like me waiting to jump on a good deal. As usual, the wealthy residents in here will be at an economic advantage, while working-class like me will be at a disadvantage, even though I have been saving years for a downpayment. Luckily me and the family live with in-laws, but if it wasn't for them I wouldn't be able to save anything at all renting in the Bay Area.

Thanks for responses.

Yes, we both will have stable jobs when moving to Bay Area.

Like I said, plan is to move Fall 2022. And initially rent x 6-8 months, so I guess we won't be buying until summer 2013.

But saving for a home in Bay Area 20% deposit means needing a minimum of 200-250k, for a starter.

So thats why I'm trying to figure out, if I should be saving up for deposit next 2-3 years...
