Required for outdoors, including exercise when coming within 30 feet of others: https://www.sfgate.com/news/editorsp...a-15300700.php

Good, this may actually have an impact on reducing community spread. Its what the Asian countries are doing effectively. Hopefully other communities adopt a similar approach, so we can actually see the spread decrease. If you don't like this, stay indoors!

Was it in the LA forum a few weeks ago, that someone said, that requiring masks while biking was ridiculous, and not doable? I think so. It would depend on whether someone's doing serious cycling, or biking for leisure, the way I see many families doing. Maybe those masks with the filter and breathe-hole built in would work for people biking for a serious cardio workout. Or maybe heavy biking won't be an option for awhile.

Anyway, this isn't something that's exclusive to SF. This is becoming the new normal around the country. At least for now. I'm hoping, that Covid19 will eventually disappear, like the Spanish flu finally did, after a 3 year rampage. Some say that's not likely, but I can hope.

Ultimately, for cycling, I think this will not be truly enforceable, because people who are cycling are in motion. What happens now is, if you're not wearing a mask and not social distancing, you are asked by the police to do so. If you continue non-compliance, you are fined or could potentially be arrested in extreme cases.

For cyclists in urban settings, they could be stopped and asked to put on a mask, or to keep 30' of separation going forward. But, unless they're being profiled for some reason, they won't be followed to check compliance. And cyclists on trails away from streets will not be very trackable and will be mostly in compliance anyway.

So, like all mask rules, this one is mostly a suggestion for our own good. The intent is not to infringe on people's rights or to be punitive or heavy handed in any way. It's a standard set for good health, in hopes that people will comply. From what I've seen around SF, nearly everyone is complying.
